Title: The Hooter's Fishing Report April 3

Pier/Surf

With a little bit of an east wind, rain and mild temps, the water is clear with a 1-plus foot wave rolling in at the Okaloosa Island Pier. Spanish mackerel and redfish are the hot ticket at the pier as well as in the bay. Pompano, sheepshead, bonito and bluefish are also being caught on a regular basis. Anglers are also lining the beach surf fishing and pulling in pompano and whiting. Sand fleas, dead shrimp and jigs work good for bait.

Cobia fishing along the coast is good about 100 to 200 yards off the beach. Eels, jigs, tube lures and live baits work well. Some in the in the 90-pound range were brought to the docks the last week.
