Pier/Surf
The sun is shining and the water is clear and calm at the Okaloosa Island Pier. Spanish mackerel is the hot ticket at the pier along with pompano, whiting and sheepshead. Bonito, skipjack and redfish are also being caught on a regular basis. King mackerel are also showing up in close and can be caught trolling cigar minnows and plugs. Anglers are also lining the beach surf fishing and pulling in pompano and whiting. Jig, sand flea or shrimp are good for bait.
Cobia fishing along the coast is good about 100 to 200 yards off the beach. Try casting an eel, jig or tube lure. The Destin Log

Hello im a ga resident coming down April 22nd-29th. I want to surf fish as much as I can . Could any one point me to good areas to fish. I'm not asking for anyone's secret spots. I know how some people can get about asking for fishing spots as I am a member of the North Ga. Trout Online Forum. I'm willing to trade info in my area if any one is intrested. I will be staying in Miramar beach area. Also what should be biting around this time of my trip. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I just want me an the kids to catch a few from the beach. Thanks for any help Scott

Hey Muzzy, when youre down you should be able to find some spanish and pompano, try using sand fleas and live or dead shrimp with bottom rig. Throw between the sand bars also if the water is clear try throwing a spoon. Might also find some whiting out there as well. Good luck!
