Im an out of towner from Columbia, SC coming down with the girlfriends family for a week (starting this Saturday). I plan to spend a lot of time in the surf while the women shop and do whatever it is women do on vacation. How has the fishing been? I fish the beaches here quite often, and it's definitely been a slow year. Any pointers on bait, tactics, etc? We were down last year as well and I did my best throwing a casting spoon and on cut squid on 2 drops

Also, how line shy are the fish? I usually run pretty heavy lines and leaders due to the likelihood of tyin into a big toothy thing, but I know yall have a lot clearer water than us
